Tablus Partners with VeriSign To Provide PCI Auditing and Scanning Services

Tablus Inc., a leading provider of content protection solutions, has announced that VeriSign will use the Tablus Content Sentinel solution as part of the VeriSign Payment Card Industry (PCI) onsite audit and scanning services practice. VeriSign is an authorized security assessor for PCI Compliance to assist merchants and service providers with required annual audits.

"Companies are being forced to take a closer look at their existing security postures to examine how they can implement stronger solutions in line with industry mandates," said Anne Bonaparte, Tablus president and CEO. "VeriSign's use of the Tablus Content Sentinel in its PCI onsite audit and scanning service practice will enable enterprises to better assess their ability to safeguard sensitive customer information from illegal or improper use."

The PCI Data Security Standard was created by major credit card companies to safeguard customer information. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and other credit card associations mandate that merchants and service providers meet certain minimum standards of security when they store, process and transmit cardholder data. Achieving PCI compliance became mandatory on June 30, 2005, however, that has proven to be a difficult and complex process for many businesses that may lack the resources necessary to meet the strict standards set forth by PCI language. There are 12 requirements that compose the PCI Data Security Standard, including the development and maintenance of a secure network, protection of cardholder data and maintenance of an information security policy.

VeriSign was one of the first assessors to conduct PCI onsite audit and scanning services under the Visa Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP) and MasterCard Site Data Protection (SDP) program.

"VeriSign's PCI process enables our enterprise clients to thoroughly assess their security architecture and determine the steps the need to take to protect customer data from unauthorized access," said Todd Crick, vice president of enterprise consulting services at VeriSign. "The Tablus Content Sentinel distributed processing and temporary agent architecture provides us with a PCI scanning solution that meets our customers' PCI compliance needs."

The Tablus Content Sentinel Solution

Tablus Content Sentinel delivers on the high expectations for information security polices and enforcement set forth by the PCI Data Security Standard by quickly and accurately scanning and managing enormous volumes of data. It finds confidential information that has been scattered throughout the network and secures it so that it cannot be stolen, lost or misused.

Tablus Content Sentinel supports PCI Data Security Standard guidelines by giving organizations the tools necessary to locate and protect PCI data wherever it resides on the network. The Tablus solution identifies and locates PCI data at rest on systems throughout the enterprise network, helping to discover sensitive data that may be at risk of loss or theft. Once Content Sentinel discovers PCI related data in unauthorized locations, it can automatically delete, quarantine, or move to a secure server immediately mitigating the risk. Content Sentinel offers out-of-the-box protection for a variety of data types including bank account, credit card and debit card numbers, PIN numbers and payment histories.

In addition to supporting PCI Data Security Standard guidelines, Content Sentinel also helps companies meet other state and federal regulations for data security, including HIPAA and Gramm-Leach-Bliley.
